106.1 miles, 8,161 feet of climbing from Lehighton to Union Dale

As Mike said, we finished riding Day 2 and cleaned our bikes after picking up enough dirt from the river that formed on the roads we were traveling on. As for the rain, I now think I know what a salmon goes through. On a related note, if you ever go through a foot or so of water on your bike and happen to be traveling around 20mph you can expect your water bottle to be ejected from it’s cage as the hydraulic pressure does it’s thing. A bump or hole (if you can see it) is also a problem but that’s another story.

After the rain, we got back on the road and made it to the Vacation Inn and were again met by Rocco Centonze, the owner.

After cleaning the bikes and showering, we were off towards Hallstead for dinner at Tedeschi’s.

Our server was Paige MacKenzie and she brought us quite the feast.

Despite the gutter-busting downpours, bolts of lightning and crashes of thunder; we made it to the Vacation Inn in Union Dale, PA. Viktor rode alone from Moscow to Union Dale. Gary did join him for a few miles, then the rains started again and he decided to get back in the car-which by the way has proven to be more valuable than gold again this year. Thanks Ed Stillman for allowing us to use one of your Volvo XC90′s as our support vehicle this year.
After washing down the bikes and getting cleaned up, we are planning on heading out for some dinner and a few frosty beverages.
More to follow….

We stopped at the Cabin Cafe for lunch and met two nice people from Media who moved up to the area and who have a couple of dogs. Their names are Nick and Jen.

Our waitress took good care of us. Here’s her photo. Her name is Michelle and we asked her to pose in front of the fireplace!

Our food was plentiful

And soon we will return to the road, which unfortunately is now very wet and in for more rain. Oh well…

Rain, rain, go away!

We are now through Hickory Run State Park, Bear Creek and Lackawanna State Forest and getting close to our lunch break in Moscow.

It’s always great to visit with happy, smiling people especially if the day is less than ideal, weather-wise. A ton of photos soon. Here are a couple for now

Here are some more photos

Waking up at the Country Inn & Suites includes a breakfast buffet that’s pretty extensive and nice!

It even has a nice coffee bar that Mike and Gary seemed happy to have!
The weather, however does not look promising wether you look at the hokey weatherman on television or just looking outside.

The good news is that the rain has not yet arrived but plenty is expected. Time will tell but for now we get ready to roll so we can visit our friends at the Carbon County Friends of Animals.
